Art In New Albany Info

If you bring young children with you to the Art In New Albany festival at TBS May 17-18, they can be put to work creating artistic masterpieces while you are strolling about admiring the works of art on display. This is because the festival will have a special arts center available just for kids where they can indulge their imaginations with crayons, watercolors and other materials. Just another reason for you to become a patron of this TBS fundraiser.
For a $50 ticket, available only from the temple and not at the door, you will become a patron of the Saturday, May 17th, preview. From 7 to 9:30 p.m., you can indulge in champagne, wine and hors d'oeuvres while mingling with artists whose works are on display. They will be happy to autograph your purchases. The public is invited free of charge to the Sunday, May 18th, festival from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sandwiches and soft drinks can be purchased. Don't Forget...

  • At the beginning of the year, Temple Beth Shalom's Talmud Torah sent out blue triangle tzedakah boxes from the Columbus Jewish Federation as part of the annual campaign. It is time to return them to the TBS Religious School office. This month's Tzedakah project is Magen David Adom - ambulance services for Israel.

  • The Gift Shop is available by calling the TBS office at 855-4882 for an appointment. There is a sale for the whole month of May!

Graduating From School? We'd Like To Know!

As we do every year, we're working on putting together a special feature in The Window featuring Temple members and their children who are graduating from school this year. We can't do this, however, without your help! If you or anyone you know is graduating from school this summer - high school, college, graduate school, Ph.D., et cetera - please let us know! You can call the Temple office (855-4882), or email windoweditor@tbsohio.org with the information. We're looking for the graduate's name, what school they're graduating from, and what school (if any) they'll be going to next. Thanks for your help!

Extended Mitkadem Staffing

Starting in April, Temple Beth Shalom will be extending staffing for the Mitkadem Program on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 7:00 pm with additional staff personnel. It is a busy time of year for all of our students and families and we want the students to have ample time and staffing to make up work in our Hebrew program. If you have missed some Sundays, would like to get ahead in your Ramah level or need some extra help, please join us on Wednesdays for the remainder of the year. The following dates are available for students to attend: 5/7, 5/14. Call or email Lynn Tallan with any questions (614 855-4882, ltallan@tbsohio.org).

Temple Beth Shalom Scrip Program

Scrip is a term that means "substitute money". When you purchase scrip, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials—and with every purchase, you earn revenue for the Temple. Purchasing scrip is an easy fundraiser in which to participate. You contribute to the Temple by making regular household purchases you would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip. Check with TBS Scrip Coordinator David Neubauer (253-7654) for the latest participating retailer list, or visit www.glscrip.com. Then put your shopping dollars to work for the Temple!

Friendly Faces Wanted!

Welcome back to the Shabbat Greeter program. We are looking for friendly faces to volunteer to hand out prayer books and welcome members for Friday night services. You can volunteer once or multiple times over the course of the year; whichever works best for you! Sign up with a friend or family member. This is an easy way to get involved and meet fellow congregation members. Please contact Lynn Dobb at ldobb@columbus.rr.com or 895-7917 or Trina Moffat at tmoffat@tbsohio.org or 855-4882 if you would like to participate. We look forward to seeing your friendly faces!
