The Beth Shalom Spectacular Sukkot Celebration! (Mon. Oct. 13)

Do you like breathing fresh air? Have you always been fascinated by temporary outdoor booths? Do you like celebrations? If you answered "yes" to any of those questions, you should join your Temple Beth Shalom Family for the Beth Shalom Spectacular Sukkot Celebration! This event will take place on Erev Sukkot (Monday, October 13) at 7:00pm at the home of Rabbi Benjy Bar-Lev (in the New Albany / Gahanna Area). Please RSVP to RSVP@tbsohio.org or the Temple office at 855.4882 by Friday, October 10th!

Upcoming Events!

Fourth Friday at Cap City (Fri. Oct. 24)

Please try to join us on October 24th for old fashioned diner fare. We will be meeting at 6:00 at Cap City Diner at 1301 Stoneridge Drive. After dinner, we will head over to Beth Shalom for services. A great time to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. To reserve a spot, please call or email Denise Kohn no later than October 22nd: 939-4383 or dkohn@fastpc.com, or rsvp@tbsohio.org.

Kidstuff Sale (Fri. Nov. 7)

TBS will be hosting a sale of quality used video systems and games, DVD movies, sporting goods and more. This is a great way to clean out some of your old 'stuff' and get some new 'stuff' while supporting the Temple. You will earn 65% profit on your items sold with the remainder benefitting the Temple. You price and tag your items, drop them off at the Temple, and then they will be sold for you at the sale. The Kidstuff sale is on Friday November 7 from 9-2:30. Drop off is on Thursday November 6 from 5-7 pm. Sellers can pre-shop from 6:30-7:30 pm. Get more details and a seller number from Judy Ankerman at jank1114@gmail.com, Diane Herman at dsherman93@gmail.com or TBS at 855-4882. Volunteers to help at sale still needed!

Don't Forget...

  • Do Two Mitzvahs In One. As you are cleaning out for the next school year, remember you can use the recycling bin at the back of the TBS parking lot and help us earn some extra money for Temple projects. Save it up, and bring it here. We'll be happy to turn your trash into treasure.

  • Gift Shop hours are currently by appointment only; call for Arlene or Tammie at TBS. Special orders and Gift Register are always available by appointment.

  • Recently we've made a variety of changes to our TBS website. These include an extended Temple Calendar and new "Who We Are" info! Check it out at http://www.tbsohio.org/ and let us know what you think. You can send feedback to listening@tbsohio.org or via the "Contact Us" form on the site.

Temple Beth Shalom Scrip Program

Scrip is a term that means "substitute money". When you purchase scrip, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials—and with every purchase, you earn revenue for the Temple. Purchasing scrip is an easy fundraiser in which to participate. You contribute to the Temple by making regular household purchases you would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip. Check with TBS Scrip Coordinator David Neubauer (253-7654) for the latest participating retailer list, or visit www.glscrip.com. Then put your shopping dollars to work for the Temple!

Now Available: "Cafe Beit Shalom"

We are proud to make available "Cafe Beit Shalom" in the Temple mezzanine area, open anytime during Temple hours. There's fresh Seattle's Best coffee available, free WiFi internet access, and several newspapers and magazines (including the Sunday New York Times). The environment is geared towards parents whose children are in Talmud Torah Sunday School, but all are welcome anytime the Temple is open.

Friendly Faces Wanted!

Welcome back to the Shabbat Greeter program. We are looking for friendly faces to volunteer to hand out prayer books and welcome members for Friday night services. You can volunteer once or multiple times over the course of the year; whichever works best for you! Sign up with a friend or family member. This is an easy way to get involved and meet fellow congregation members. Please contact Lynn Dobb at ldobb@columbus.rr.com or 895-7917 or Trina Moffat at tmoffat@tbsohio.org or 855-4882 if you would like to participate. We look forward to seeing your friendly faces!
