Ladies' Night Out at Hayley Gallery (Thu. Mar. 18)

Please join us March 18 from 6-8 pm for an evening of art, wine, food and friendship at the Hayley Gallery. If you've been to her gallery, you know that Hayley Savage has an eclectic mix of photography, mixed media, blown glass, ceramic, jewelry, even furniture for us to enjoy in her beautiful gallery at 45 Second Street in New Albany. We're so excited she's agreed to host us - let's make this our best-attended Ladies Night ever (there's no space limit!) so please bring your friends and family. Items ranging from large works to small tchochkes will all be available for purchase, but there's certainly no pressure to buy. Here's how it will work: those of us with last names A-M should bring an appetizer (heavy-ish). Our M-Z friends should bring a bottle of wine to share. Plates, cups, utensils, etc., will be provided by TBS. Please RSVP to Deb Rycus or Jodi Harris (drycus@resource.com or jodi@harrisandassociates.com).

Fourth Friday in March (Fri. Mar. 26)

The weather is improving, threats of blizzard are receding, the birds are returning, the folks who took refuge in Florida and Arizona are making their way back to Columbus and there is no reason not to attend services. But before services on March 26th, please join us for Fourth Friday at 6 p.m. at Café Istanbul, 3983 Worth Ave., Easton. If you haven't been to Fourth Friday for a while or have never attended, it's an opportunity to catch up with old friends and make new ones. Please RSVP to Nancy Brown at 737-4011 or ngbrown@columbus.rr.com by March 25th.

Family Friendly Second Night Seder (Tue. Mar. 30)

On Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Temple Beth Shalom, we will have a light-hearted, fun-filled Passover celebration, where children's activities will include building the pyramids, enduring the 10 plagues, and crossing the Red Sea! Passover & Yizkor Services will be at 5:30 PM, followed by a Seder led by Rabbi Howard Apothaker with music by Nick Ciranni at 6:15 PM. Cost is $25.00 per adult and $15.00 per child (ages 4-12) for the festive, five-course, catered meal. RSVPs are required and must be received no later than Friday, March 26 at 3:00 PM; send a check to make your reservation or call the Temple office at 614-855-4882 to reserve with a credit card.

Tribute to Marilyn and Roger Friedman (Sat. May 1)

Mark your calendar now - we're honoring Marilyn and Roger Friedman on Saturday May 1, at the Hyatt on Capitol Square, 6:30 p.m. reception, 7:15 p.m. dinner. It's our spring fundraiser and we've got two stellar speakers: Dr. E. Gordon Gee and Rabbi David Saperstein. Marilyn and Roger have both shown outstanding leadership at TBS and in the community, and Marilyn is a past TBS president. Join us as we recognize the Friedmans' many contributions. Watch the mail for your invitation!

Temple Beth Shalom Scrip Program

Scrip is a term that means "substitute money". When you purchase scrip, you're purchasing negotiable gift certificates and prepaid cards that are used just like cash. You can use scrip to purchase everyday expenses like food, clothing, and other essentials—and with every purchase, you earn revenue for the Temple. Purchasing scrip is an easy fundraiser in which to participate. You contribute to the Temple by making regular household purchases you would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip. Check with TBS Scrip Coordinator David Neubauer (253-7654) for the latest participating retailer list, or visit www.glscrip.com. Then put your shopping dollars to work for the Temple!

The Kroger Kosher Market is now accepting orders for meat for Passover. An order form is available at http://tbsohio.org/eWindow/KKMPassoverOrderForm2010.pdf - if you're interested, download the form, fill it out, and send it in to the Kroger Kosher Market (address provided on the form) by March 15. If you have any questions, contact Kim or Paul at the Kroger Kosher Market at (614) 237-0076.

Oneg Volunteers Needed

Please help sustain the longstanding TBS tradition of congregant supplied Oneg Shabbat (the snack after Friday night services). This is a wonderful way to connect to the TBS community and it isn't much work. You cut up a few veggies, maybe bake some cookies (or let Kroger's do the baking for you), possibly some cheese and crackers. You pick up a challa for the bimah. You come to services a little early and stay a little later to clean up. You visit with your fellow congregants, make a few new friends. What could be nicer? You want help, ask someone to share the work with you or I'll help you line up a partner. We have several dates available for the upcoming year. It's a nice way to acknowledge a family yahrzeit or a special event like a baby naming or an anniversary. Please help carry on this wonderful TBS tradition. Would like to participate but food preparation doesn't interest you? You can also make a cash contribution to the Oneg Fund and we'll have cookie trays and the challa delivered. Contact Miriam Siegfried (mcsfried@sbcglobal.net, 870-8707 evenings) to volunteer to provide a Friday night Oneg.
