The original 1987 area set aside for TvS burials was restricted to the extreme southwest quadrant of section 116, but since then every ten years the available area has been expanded to greatly increase the number of spaces and burial options.

TBS has a Cemetery Committee that works with Green Lawn on a regular basis and is able to educate congregants on burial planning. For more information, contact TBS Executive Director, Bobby Covitz, at bobby@tbsohio.org.

Did you know that one of the cornerstones of a synagogue is to provide its membership with access to a consecrated Jewish burial ground? To that end, in 1987 two Columbus area Reform synagogues, Congregation Beth Tikvah in Worthington and our Temple Beth Shalom, joined together to establish a shared Reform Jewish burial site. It is located within the historic 325 acre Green Lawn Cemetery just southwest of downtown Columbus at 1000 Greenlawn Avenue. Our Section 116 is called "Tikvah V'Shalom" (Hope and Peace). The plots are sold directly from Green Lawn to the congregant, once Green Lawn has established that the purchaser is a current member of one of the two congregations.
