AT TEMPLE BETH SHALOM
RELIGIOUS SCHOOL EXPERIENCE

At Temple Beth Shalom Religious School, we strive to help our children build joyful, confident Jewish identities, so that they feel at home in our Jewish community, create lasting friendships, and take pride in their Judaism wherever they go. That vision has guided the complete redesign of our Religious School curriculum.

Beginning this year, TBS Religious School will introduce a brand-new learning experience that will reshape our Jewish education for students, madrichim, parents, and teachers. This exciting new content will be implemented across Kindergarten through 6th grade classrooms over the next two years, 2026-2027 and 2027-2028.

All grade-levels will cover key aspects of Jewish learning, including Torah stories, history, values, holidays, and Israel, at developmentally appropriate stages:

  • Lessons will intentionally revisit important ideas year after year, allowing students to deepen their understanding as they mature.
  • Curriculum will Incorporate a variety of modalities, including storytelling, art, games, discussion, projects, ritual creation, music, and movement, as well as high-quality projects and ritual items for our children to use at home and be treasured for many years to come.

This curriculum was designed by Rabbi Carrie Vogel, a Judaics Curriculum Specialist and TBS parent, with a career focused on developing Jewish curricula for congregations and universities.

We are incredibly excited to begin this new chapter in Jewish learning at TBS. We hope this curriculum will not only inspire our students each Sunday, but also strengthen Jewish life in your home and deepen our entire community for years to come.
